I am getting an error when I try to login.
Issues logging in are generally caused by one of the following:
- Miss typing or using the wrong password. Please make sure you are logging in using your MSU username and password.
- Special characters in their password that are accepted by other MSU systems, like D2L, but not these sites.. If this is the case with your password, you will need to change it to only include letters, digits, !, $ characters.
- On very rare occasions, there have been issues with a students account such that the MSU servers did not update properly after changing the password. If this is the case with your account, you will need to contact MSU help desk.
MSU also has two different authentication systems. Sometimes the password between these two systems does not synchronize properly. In these cases the MSU IT Support recommends changing your password. This will cause the systems to resynchronize. To change your password use the following steps:
- Browse to https://auth.msu.edu
- Sign in with your email address and current password
- Click on your name in the upper right-hand corner and select Settings. Here, you may now see a green Edit Profile button. If so, click that and enter your password when prompted. Then continue the steps below.
- Locate the Change Password box and enter the requested information
- Click the Change Password button
- You're done!
